An ancient path – Pilgrims from all over the world have walked the Camino de Santiago for centuries, following the many paths to Santiago de Compostela and the tomb of St James.

Today, whether walking the Camino for religious or spiritual reasons, to find yourself or for its natural beauty, the Camino de Santiago is a trip of a lifetime, a unique experience that inspires many, even after their journey is over.

The Camino de Santiago is the most important cultural and spiritual route in the world.

The role it has played throughout history makes it a symbol of the building of Western civilization, the first step towards European integration and a point of reference in the cultural exchange between the different Christian nations.

All this has been confirmed after having being declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a European Cultural Route, a status given by the Council of Europe.

The French Way or Camino Francés is the most famous of all the Camino de Santiago routes, featuring in many documentaries, books and movies such as ‘The Way’.

While St Jean Pied de Port is the official starting point of the French Way, many also choose to start their Camino from other points along the route. The most popular starting point is the town of Sarria, in Galicia, 111km away from Santiago. This section is also the most social part of the route, where you will meet many fellow pilgrims and find the real spirit and camaraderie of the Camino!

Along the French Way, you will discover beautiful cities, charming medieval towns and stunning landscapes: the Pyrenees, the vineyards of La Rioja, the vast open spaces of the Meseta, the rugged mountains of Léon and O Cebreiro and finally the peaceful hills of rural Galicia before reaching Santiago de Compostela.

Tailored Spain can customize the Camino just for you, come with us on this magnificent and spiritual journey!
