Bilbao es el corazón de una metrópoli con más de un millón de habitantes. Es el eje principal de desarrollo económico-social y el factor fundamental de modernización del Golfo de Vizcaya. Los grandes proyectos arquitectónicos y de infraestructuras han servido de motor para la regeneración urbanística y económica de la ciudad. El Museo Guggenheim Bilbao, el Palacio de Congresos y de la Música Euskalduna, el Metro de Norman Foster, el Aeropuerto de Calatrava, las torres diseñadas por los arquitectos Arata Isozaki y César Pelli… son ejemplos de la arrolladora vitalidad que se respira en Bilbao. Situada en el Territorio de Bizkaia, la ciudad está rodeada de un paisaje fértil, con bosques, montañas, playas y costas escarpadas que hacen de Bilbao un destino privilegiado para el visitante. El Museo Guggenheim Bilbao fue diseñado por el norteamericano Frank O. Gehry, la arquitectura de vanguardia del edificio es un magnífico escenario para presentar obras maestras del arte moderno y contemporáneo.
Desde su inauguración en el año 1997, el Guggenheim Bilbao y el perro Puppy -la escultura floral de Jeff Koons situada en el exterior del edificio- se han convertido en el símbolo más internacional de Bilbao. Forman parte de la colección las obras de grandes figuras del mundo artístico: David Salle, Chillida, Jeff Koons, Louis Bourgeois y Robert Rauschenberg son algunos ejemplos. El Guggenheim también ofrece una serie de actividades para todos aquellos visitantes que deseen ampliar sus conocimientos artísticos.

La ciudad donostiarra se extiende por una bahía de arena blanca entre los montes Urgull e Igeldo. Un caserío pesquero, un ensanche señorial y modernos barrios convierten a esta ciudad en una de las más atractivas del litoral cantábrico. El Museo de San Telmo, el Peine del Viento o el Kursaal son ejemplos de cómo la ciudad aúna en su trazado tradición con modernidad. Por su parte, la provincia guipuzcoana, de la que San Sebastián es capital, funde mar y montaña ofreciendo al viajero, además de interesantes monumentos, paisajes, deportes, gastronomía… Una gastronomía, la vasca, de reconocido prestigio internacional.
El trazado urbano de San Sebastián se despliega mirando a la Bahía de La Concha. El Monte Igeldo marca el límite en uno de sus extremos, una atalaya inmejorable para disfrutar de las vistas sobre la ciudad. A sus pies queda la Punta Torrepea, donde se instala el “Peine del Viento”, conjunto escultórico del célebre artista vasco Eduardo Chillida. Aquí mismo da comienza la Playa de Ondarreta, enmarcada por una zona ajardinada y el Pico del Loro. Este fue el lugar elegido por la reina Maria Cristina (s. XVIII) para construir el Palacio de Miramar, su residencia veraniega. Un bello paseo marítimo de elegantes barandillas y farolas recorre la playa de La Concha, en cuya arena se instala el Balneario La Perla del Océano, antigua caseta real de baños. Mirando siempre al mar llegamos al antiguo Casino, hoy Ayuntamiento de la ciudad. En esta zona, entre el mar y el río Urumea se encuentra el casco viejo, y camino del Monte Urgull, el muelle deportivo y el barrio pesquero. La cumbre del Urgull está dominada por el Castillo de la Mota y una representación del Sagrado Corazón. Una senda nos lleva hasta arriba, mientras que otra rodea el monte llevándonos por el Rompeolas.

Fundada a finales del siglo XII, Vitoria-Gasteiz es hoy una ciudad de diseño urbanístico ejemplar. La capital vasca conserva un casco medieval en el que es posible hallar innumerables lugares de sabor tradicional, como la Plaza de la Virgen Blanca, y edificios históricos, como la Catedral de Santa María. A su lado, la ciudad extiende sus fronteras de forma armónica en el ensanche romántico, con amplias avenidas, jardines y edificios que recuerdan la capitalidad y el señorío de esta ciudad.

Además, Vitoria disfruta de una intensa vida cultural, como lo demuestra año tras año uno de sus eventos más renombrados, el Festival de Jazz. Tampoco defraudará su recetario gastronómico tradicional, basado en productos de la huerta, y siempre acompañado por los singulares vinos vascos.
La actual Vitoria fue fundada en 1181 sobre un pequeño cerro por el rey navarro Sancho VI con el nombre de Nueva Victoria. Esta plaza fuerte pasó a manos del monarca castellano Alfonso VIII en 1200. Pronto comenzó en la villa una floreciente vocación artesanal. En el siglo XV, Juan II de Castilla concedería a Vitoria el título de ciudad. A lo largo de los siglos XVIII y XIX se desarrolló el ensanche de la ciudad.
